The Future That Never Came - photography
Roadside Traces looks at places shaped by abandonment and the remains of an earlier prosperity.
Empty storefronts, closed motels, disused garages and isolated buildings suggest towns that once anticipated a different future. Some structures seem almost unfinished in their optimism—a blank wall waiting for another building that was never built, a business frontage left behind after the activity around it disappeared.
Among the decay, old cars remain carefully preserved beneath layers of dust, like artifacts from a more prosperous time. Together, these fragments become traces of what these places once were, and of the future they once seemed to expect.
